Looking to Rush Delta Tau Delta?
Breakthrough T1D, formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Its mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. To accomplish this, Breakthrough T1D has invested nearly $2 billion in research funding since our inception. Breakthrough T1D is an organization built on a grassroots model of people connecting in their local communities, collaborating regionally for efficiency and broader fundraising impact, and uniting on a national stage to pool resources, passion, and energy. Breakthrough T1D collaborates with academic institutions, policymakers, and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of innovative therapies to people living with T1D. The Breakthrough T1D staff and volunteers in more than 100 locations throughout the United States and our six international affiliates are dedicated to advocacy, community engagement and our vision of a world without T1D. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone people need to get energy from food. T1D strikes both children and adults, and its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is currently nothing you can do to prevent it, and there is no cure.
Since the chapter's return to campus in 2019 we have hosted one philanthropy each semester. In total, the chapter has raised close to $5,000 for Breakthrough T1D.
In 2025, we were excited to host our second annual One Week, a philanthropy week including selling donuts and coffee, hosting a garage sell, having a giveback night at El Paso, hosting our semesterly Pelt-a-Delt, and selling hot dogs. We were able to raise just over $2,000, our largest philanthropy event to date.
